About Section

Our Club is a Founders Club of Lions International, organized October 11, 1916.  We serve the Tulsa area, principally by assisting the visually and physically impaired. Our motto is: "WE SERVE." We are the Home Club of the late Dr. Robert McCullough, Lions International Past President. While our club is the "downtown club," many of our members work and live outside the downtown area. Visitors are always welcome.

New members are always invited. See our "New members" page for more information about us. If you or someone you know may be interested in becoming a Lion and serving the community, please visit us or contact one of our club officers.

If you wish to donate eyeglasses, review our list of  several drop off locations around the Tulsa area.

Helen Keller: "Alone we can do so little. Together we can do so much."

In response to Helen Keller's challenge to us in 1925, we became "Knights of the Blind in the crusade against darkness."

More About Us

Our history is a long one. And a proud one. For over 100 years, we’ve served with uncommon kindness, putting the needs of our neighbors and our communities first. We look back at our storied past with pride, but we know it’s only the beginning. Every day, we’re building on our legacy with the goal of making an even greater impact in the future.

We support the global causes of Lions Club International:

Diabetes - We serve to reduce the prevalence of diabetes and improve quality of life for those diagnosed.

Vision - We serve to prevent avoidable blindness and improve quality of life for people who are blind and visually impaired.

Hunger - We serve to ensure all community members have access to nutritious foods.

Environment - We serve to sustainably protect and restore our environment to improve the well-being of all communities.

Childhood Cancer - We serve to help those affected by childhood cancer survive and thrive.

Who We Are

We serve the Tulsa area in many ways and one of our primary projects is providing no cost vision exams and glasses to qualifying individuals that can't afford these services.

We also partner with local schools to provide services to physically and mentally impaired children.

We provide Kidsight screenings in daycare centers and at health fairs.

We provide a Mobile Health Screening unit at various events in the Tulsa area. This includes supporting the annual Veteran's Stand Down event at the First Methodist Church in downtown Tulsa.

We collect glasses from various optometrists offices and individuals that want to donate them. The glasses will be then be cleaned and sorted by prescription and sent to underserved populations around the globe via several mission-driven organizations.

We donate to the following organizations to enable them to provide much needed services:

  • Newview Oklahoma - Empowering those with vision loss by providing Comprehensive Low-Vision Rehabilitation Services, Meaningful Employment Opportunities and Engagin Community Programs. https://nvoklahoma.org/
  • Lions Meadows of Hope - Providing siblings in foster care a loving family and a safe home. As a certified foster care agency, they place Oklahoma Department of Human Services foster children in homes in the local community and on their 160-acre foster care community campus. https://lionsmoh.org/
